Let me go ahead and answer the two most asked questions I get when out meeting our great listeners:
1) Are you really in a helicopter?Answer: Yes! A Bell Jet Ranger
2) Do you fly the helicopter?
Answer: No! I have an extremely skilled pilot.
My radio career actually begain in 1984, when I enrolled at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. I started jocking, writing news, producing commercials, basically anything and everything that I could. While I was at NSU, I also worked at a couple of local stations to get more experience.
I moved to Denver in 1991 to make my fortune in big city radio. Unfortunately, it’s almost never that easy…While I searched for a job in radio, I had several odd jobs; mobile DJ, graveyard shift at a pnuematic air factory. It was tough, but I knew radio was my calling.
Finally in 1993, I moved to Dallas, and, after a couple of years, good things began to happen. Starting doing traffic for a couple of stations and then, in January of 1996, the opportunity to be the airborne traffic reporter for KSCS came along. I was so nervous the first day, I could barely complete a sentence. Things began to improve, mostly because of the extremely professional, immensely talented, and just down right nice people I have worked with these last 11 years. It’s been an ideal working environment for me and I count my blessings everyday that I’ve had the opportunity.
I’m still a bachelor and my spare time is spent with music(definitely an audiophile), running, or cooking(still learning, but I do make a mean jambalaya.)
Thanks so much for listening!
